На чьих характеристиках? Если имеется в виду вопрос о разнице
в производительности, то я этим специально не занимался, это
надо гонять тесты; тут я просто исходил из, скажем так, доверия
к разработчикам ядра -- если они сделали выбор из разных типов
процессоров, стало быть, это должно вносить какие-то изменения
в работу ядра. Основное же, всё-таки, при компиляции своего
ядра -- это выбрасывание всего ненужного либо, наоборот, подключение
того, чего нет. И иногда без этого не обойтись. В своё время я
звуковуху Turtle Beach TBS2000, которая официально OSS не
поддерживается, смог запустить, только собрав своё ядро, без
этого не получилось бы никак.
