Кто-нибудь ставил Junior 1.1 из ISO? Приятель
мой выкачал его вчера -- куча пакетов битых, в том
числе OpenOffice

Я записывал болванку этим ISO, поставился ок. OpenOffice не
смотрел. Попробуйте натравить rsync поверх битого ISO - может,
траффик с'экономите.

Проверьте md5sum скачанного iso-файла.
