xxkb - индикатор текущей раскладки клавиатуры. Архиполезная вещь,
шибкогибконастраиваемая :)
При возникновении вопросов "а зачем" полезно бывает набрать
man <name>
или
apt-cache search <name>
или
rpm -qi <name>
