Во первых - по какому протоколу?
Во вторых - это должен уметь не только клиент, но и
почтовый сервер....
Просмотрите архив рассылки, про программу fetchmail. Её
можно настроить н подобное (деталей сейчас не помню).
Побочный эффект - понизится скорость закачки (после
каждого письма будет доп. обмен с сервером)
