Вам следовало _до_ установки ядра из Сизифа обновить пакет mkinitrd оттуда
же. Иначе есть шанс, что ramdisk не будет сделан (судя по всему, у Вас
именно такая ситуация) и ядро не загрузится.
Теперь Вам придется делать это вручную - /sbin/installkernel уже не
поможет.
