Из KDE-шных приложений вставляет, похоже, у них свой, независимый

Не совсем. Из штатного KDE-шного текстового редактора не вставляет.

А у меня в консоли не получается copy-paste из одного mc в другой по
ctrl-ins, shift-ins.
