Неужели никто не знает, что можно сделать, чтобы insmod aic7xxx не падал с
segmentation fault?
Карта 7850. Прерывание ни с кем не делит.
Кстати, он вкомпилирован в ядро или нет?

Раз он модуль - значит в ядро не вкомпилен :-) а грузится
модулем.
Скажу честно - не знаю в чем дело.
В качестве предположения - отсутствие на карточке собственного
BIOS, все же она несколько неполноценная сказя.

Посмотрите в BIOS опцию Use PNP OS (примерно так) - она должна стоять в No.
Также можно попробовать использовать модуль aic7xxx_old.
Если не получится - пришлите мне вывод lspcidrake
