/etc/rc.d/init.d/xinetd status - говорят, что процесс не запущен.
Все в порядке, просто ситуация такая - xinetd запускается, видит, что ему
нечего обслуживать и выходит. поэтому status и сообщает о незапущенности
xinetd
выход - дать xinetd что-нить делать ;-)
