Спасибо, я уже разобрался. Не было прав на запись
в сам /tmp. После того, как поправил, все запустилось.
А вообще, да: после падения status говорил, что
xfs умер, но pid его живет :).
Дело еще осложнилось тем, что у меня S3 Trio 3D/2X.
Я проапгрейдил XFree86 до 4.1.0, а говорят, что
на 4.1 эта карточка не поддерживается. Сейчас у меня
работает сервер 3.3.6, а клиент 4.1.0. По другому
не удается настроить.
