Немножко не в кассу, но откуда такая инфа? С какого перепугу для какой-то
программы необходимо перекомпилировать ядро? В общем, неправильная инфа
... и не говорите ее мои ораклам ... а то работать перестануть ;-)

Такое впечатление, что при компиляции что-то не то указано при сборке.
Проверьте, указано ли, что машина SMP, что проц Pentium Pro или Pentium
III (иногда даульные мамки у меня отказывались так заводиться) и включите
MTRR ... это, насколько я помню, все в одной менюшке ...

судя по отквоченному тексту, не доходит она до него - процессоры и их тип
