Можно сделать так -- отредактируйте файл ~/.sylpheed/folderlist.xml --
там в самом начале есть строчка ...name="Почтовый ящик" path="Mail",
замените Mail на mail и переименуйте каталог Mail в mail
(в домашнем каталоге). Теперь sylpheed будет хранить Вашу почту
в mail. Запускайте KMail -- создастся каталог Mail, в котором
почту будет хранить KMail.

Я почту забираю с помощью fetchmail -- а потом её можно раскидать
из спула куда угодно. Попробуйте -- это удобно. Настраивается
очень легко с помощью fetchmailconf, почту можно забирать с разных
mail -- серверов зараз или по-отдельности и т.д.
