Подтверждаю, мне такой команды тоже не потребовалось. И
append="hdc=ide-scsi" руками тоже писать не потребовалось - инсталятор
Spring сам догадался.

Если hdd=ide-scsi, то CD-диски будут читаться через /dev/scd0 (именно туда
следует направить ссылку /dev/cdrom, если нет отдельного CD-драйва для
чтения). /dev/hdd для этого уже не годится. А для записи будет
использоваться /dev/sg0. Еще надо позаботиться о наличии прав доступа к
этим устройствам.
