А вы не пробовали залогиниться в xdm в первый раз root'ом? Я попробовала -
получилось, НО: даже после этого при ctrl+alt+backspace - login - простой
user - все те же симптомы, что и описанные вами раньше...
Вы эту проблему еще не решили?
