Это не "По-старому". Это способ "для всех"
дистрибутивов, включая дистрибутивы, не имеющие системы
управления пакетами.
Этот способ есс-но работает, если обратить внимание на
такие вещи, как:
makefile,
gcc --version,
kgcc --version,
man update-alternatives,
Пункт build_custom в .spec ядра.
2)Из какой директории надо давать эту команду?
Из той же, что и обычно используется для пересборки
пакетов.
