initscripts-5.49-ipl20mdk (/sbin/installkernel) при обновлении ядра
неправильно обрабатывает ситуацию, когда для /boot создан отдельный раздел
и установлен загрузчик GRUB. В /boot/grub/menu.lst при обновлении ядра
пишется строка типа:
kernel (hd0,1)/boot/vmlinuz-2.2.19-alt2-up root=/dev/hda6
Раздел ставится правильный, но /boot из пути не выбрасывается, из-за этого
ядро не находится при загрузке. (linux-up все равно загружается, т.к. эта
секция не обновляется - проблемы возникают только при загрузке ядра с
явным указанием версии.)
