Hello!
Проблема была решена. Все дело оказалось в явном указании
памяти - строчка
append="mem=128M"
в /etc/lilo.conf
С указанной опцией падает и стандартное и самосборное ядро на i810.
Any comments?
P.S. Причем от наличия / отсутствия опции failsafe это, похоже, не зависит. :-(

Потому как память в i810 делится между интегрированным видео и обычным
ОЗУ, потому ядру будет доступно меньше 128М.

Укажите память чуть меньше, чтобы осталось на видео.
