[mdk-re] sendmail - 587 порт

Доброго времени суток!

Не подскажет ли кто-нибудь из знающих
людей, зачем sendmail (из стандартной поставки
Spring 2001) слушает 587 порт ?

[root@ns /]# netstat -lp 
<skip>
tcp        0      0 *:587                   *:*                     LISTEN      6118/sendmail: acce 
<skip>


Плюс к этому делает файл(точнее он в rpm есть) statistics
[root@ns log]# rpm -qf statistics
sendmail-8.11.3-ipl1mdk

-r-xr-xr-x    1 bin      bin      0 Мар 21 10:47 /var/log/statistics 
Я понимаю - что это статистика, но что-то странно это выглядит...

Кусок из README (sendmail-cf):
It represents a "Message Submission Agent" (MSA) as defined by RFC
2476 (see below).
A "Message Submission Agent" still uses all of the same rulesets for
processing the message (and therefore still allows message rejection via
the check_* rulesets).  In accordance with the RFC, the MSA will ensure
that all domains in the envelope are fully qualified if the message is
relayed to another MTA.  It will also enforce the normal address syntax
rules and log error messages.  Additionally, by using the M=a modifier
you can require authentication before messages are accepted by the MSA.
Finally, the M=E modifier shown above disables ETRN as required by RFC
2476.

Это двоичная статистика и смотрится она командой mailstats.

А порт зачем открывать?

Смысл этого файла в rpm-е, если по умолчанию с sendmail.cf написано:
# status file
O StatusFile=/etc/mail/statistics
А указать опцию -f я и так догадался дать.

  Да , в sendmail.cf это прописано, но сам файл statistics надо 
создавать вручную, rpm это сделал за Вас.

        Это какая-то новая феня, смысл которой мне лично, мало понятен.
Но отключается так :

FEATURE(`no_default_msa')
