Хочу сказать, что мне пришлось на машине, где не собирается (MDK Spring 2001) еще немного вначале фиксить файл Makefile в arch/i386/lib/, там, где checksum.S болтается - он тоже не хотел компилятся и орал на что-то, связанное с дефайном DST и SRC - я убрал "-traditional" из Makefile`а и компиляция встала на рейзере. А на другой машинке - все собралось без всякого вмешательства. Я подозреваю, что тута виноваты либы libc (они же в Спринге новее, чем в слаке, вот и нефига не собиралось).
В "чистом" Spring 2001 ядро собирается без вопросов.
Проверьте Ваши собственные настройки, библиотеки, компиляторы, ...
На всякий случай напомню, что ядра 2.2.x нужно собирать с kgcc
(gcc-2.95.3).
