В старом добром Мандраке 7.0 инсталляция сабжа проходила без проблем (версия 2.0.3). Поставил 7.2, снова инсталлирую VMWare, запускаю wmware-config.pl, и на этапе где необходимо указать

What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel?
[/usr/src/linux/include] 

В ответ на честный дефолтовый "Enter" пишет:

The directory of kernel headers (version 2.2.17-21 mdk) does not match your running kernel (version 2.2.17-21 mdksecure). Consequently, even if the compilation of the module was the successfull, the module wouid not load into the running kernel.

Какой же ему тогда путь указывать???????

Боюсь соврать (давно это было), но по-моему Вам поможет /usr/src/linux
make oldconfig ; make dep

То есть пересобрать ядро? Для самой системы это пройдет безболезненно?
