1. mandrake-update
Запускаю DrakConf, захожу в "обновление
Linux-Mandrake", файл - настройки, указываю HTTP и FTP
proxy. Говорю Ok - он умирает.
2. control center
Через некоторое время после инсталляции из KDE Control
Center пропали все модули. Подозреваю, что после
добавления пункта меню через Menudrake. Вылечилось это
копированием из /usr/share/applnk.kde в
/usr/share/applnk каталога Settings, но состав модулей
слегка поменялся.

Думаю, что Вы просто не дождались завершения операции обновления меню -- она может быть длительной, а ее прерывание нежедательно.
Достаточно было запустить update-menus.
