Workaround:
Идете в /usr/share/abisuite/AbiSuite/fonts/KOI8-R и там, в файлах fonts.dir и fonts.alias меняете все courier на courier_abi, times на times_abi, arial на arial_abi. Перезапускаете X и пользуетесь этими шрифтами при наборе текста в abi.
