1. Вы можете взять одно из готовых к установке ядер.
2. Можно собрать пакет с custom-ядром (см. комментарии в spec-файле ядра).
Для этого нужен только свежий rpm и то, что требуется для его работы. Ни
новый glibc, ни новый gcc не требуется для сборки _ядра_. Новые
initscripts желательны, но в виду их несовместимости с Вашей системой их
установка необязательна (правда, Вам тогда придется проверить правильность
конфигурационных файлов lilo/grub).
3. С framebuffer все нормально. :)
