Ядро ставили rpm -ivh ...?
Если так - при lilo: нажмите TAB, загрузитесь с
прошлым ядром.
Далее - в какой форме у Вас исходнюки? если .src.rpm -
одна последовательность действий (краткая), если
пакет kernel-source - другая, чуть подлиннее (см.
readme).
Если src.rpm, но не знаете, как делать - могу вечером
выслать .config для Вас, останется сделать:
rpm -ba <kerel-spec> --target i686
rpm -ivh <то, что получилось>
Ну а пока - можно изменить ссылку на ядро в /boot и
издать команду lilo. - всё вернётся на круги своя (как
было)
