Может кто пошагово расписать действия, чтоб гостевая система имела свой
сетевой интерфейс в сети. Основная машина например имеет IP-АДРЕС
192.168.1.2. Гостевая чтоб получила например 192.168.1.3.

Проблема, была с виртуалбоксом идущим по дефолту с 4.1.1 (что было
указано в вопросе), в котором выше описанные вами шаги соответственно
не работают. Проблема решилась установкой последней сборки из бранча
4.1.
