У меня при установке на компьютер с ципсетом Intel 82865PE и
SATA Seagate Barracuda 80 Gb 7200 rpm 8Mb AltMaster 2.2 зависал
на стадии определения IDE контролеров, ASP Linux загружал установщик
но не находил SATA диск.
Поставил Compact с ядром 2.4.22-alt6 он
подключил диск но в режиме эмуляции - т.е. с использованием обычного
драйвер IDE.
Поддержка SATA включена в ядрах 2.4.22-alt7 и выше.
После установки которого надо сгенерировать initrd для нового ядра
с параметрами mkinitrd --preload ata_piix --with sd_mod и исправить в
fstab /dev/hda1 на /dev/sda1 и т.д.
