Спасибо за советы, вроде разобрался...
но пришлось сначала удалить все ошмётки вручную

rm /usr/lib/*295.20  и все неправильные симлинки,
а потом уже сделать reinstall всего что связано с nvidia - подругому никак не получалось 
(оно опять пересоздавало симлинки на старые куски драйвера с сайта).
