Subject: [Comm] как все таки быть с компиляцией ядра в ALT Master'e 2.2/2.4?

Здравствуйте, уважаемые пингвиноводы!
В начале года решил все-таки перейти на ALT Master 2.2 (ну и заодно
2.4 на работе поставил)..переходил с Мандрейка 2001 (тоже от фирмы
ALT Linux),которым без проблем пользовался с 2000-го.
Сразу столкнулся с парой непонятностей:
1. возможно ли скомпилировать ядро для себя? (в форумах народ от этого
отговаривают,мол все и так заоптимизировано). Ничего против дефолтного
не имею,но как-то хочется самому все сделать 8)
..как и в мандрейке,где проблем не было никаких..
Более конкретный вопрос -
посоветуйте,что можно почитать о компиляции ядра именно ALT Master
разных версий дистрибутива ?
Мастер 2.2 имеется на 9 CD дисках - kernel24-sources нигде не могу
найти (звучит конечно смешно),
Мастер 2.4 - на 1 DVD - масса kernel* - а вот с чем их кушать?
2. В старых дистрибутивах была такая хорошая утилита ntsysv -
а у Мастера есть аналоги?
3. Есть ли смысл пересобирать пакеты/ядро под AMD64 ? (машина с этим
проц-м под рукой,попробовать хочется, а вдруг летать начнет? ;)
