А раньше все в порядке было? А в биосе нормально порты отконфигурены и
ненужные порты отключены? А если запустить minicom, проставить ему
нужный порт и попросить проинициализировать модем? Запусти setserial если не
ошибаюсь и посмотри прерывания портов, все ли в порядке.
(Кстати к диалогу о интуитивности - всем этим я уже пользовался в
первый день установки Линукса, просто потому, что знал что такое man и
до этого почитал книжки и статьи в инете)
