Так можно с определённостью сказать, где собака порылась? В самом Питоне или всё-таки в Эрике? (В случае p5)
Что получается, если запустить тестовый скрипт чисто в командной строке?
А в IDLE (если поставить)? А DrPython тоже ругается?
Извините за многобукафф, но раз уж Вы этой темой озадачились...
