MySQL - GPL, хороша на маленьких проектах, где требуются быстрый и
маленький сервер БД.
PosgreSQL - BSD-style, если я не ошибаюсь. Неплохая СУБД, помощнее
MySQL.
Interbase/Firebird - аналог MPL, мощный сервер, много всего умеет.
Бывают еще всякие mSQL и т.д. и т.п. - но самые распространенные
именно эти три.
