А pulse не пробовали придушить?
Чем больше прослоек между ядром и акустикой, тем хуже для ОСи.
Лишние такты процессора.
Что-то помнится у убунтоводов подобное заикание под пульс было.

В интернетах пишут, что кому-то одно
Option "SwapbuffersWait" "false"
в секции Device помогало.
Умолчальное состояние опций описано в
man intel
