Для этого он должен быть не встроенным, а "выстроенным". В смысле,
функциональность "офисных" программ должна быть доступна "снаружи",
без открытия окон :))) с "документами". А для этого нужно отделить
движок от визуального рендерера, что, видимо, несколько выше понимания
разработчиков "настольных" приложений :(, да и объективно достаточно
сложно.
Впрочем, посмотрите на то, как ЛИСП используется в Emacs (у всего
"расширяемого встроенными языками" из настольного ноги растут из TECO
и Emacs, как впрочем, и у самой идеи "десктопа") и в GIMP.
Иногда я думаю, что добить необходимую WordProcessing-функциональность
в Emacs проще, чем откостоправить OO и т.п.
