А случайно у Вас не ATI и не делали ли вы ее настройку через утилиту
настройки ATI (не помню как там оно называется, консольная)? Просто
после этого в /etc/X11/XF86Config вместо FontPath "unix/:-1" стоит
перечисление каталогов, и далеко не полное. Тогда исправить на "unix/:-1" и
проверить настройки xfs'а.
