А глянь, что у тебя в переменной DISPLAY. Если там стоит не localhost
- может быть засада. Или вообще можешь на время запуска дать unset.
Может он у тебя пытается сумничать и вывести по сети на другой X
терминал? :-) У меня такое было как то раз...
