Сделай xvidtune, там есть клавиша show, которая выдает строчку с
цифрами в консоль (xvidtune запускай из консоли). Эту строчку надо
потом добавить в /etc/X11/XF86Config, в разделе про мониторы.
Что-то типа
Option "ModeLine" и дальше числа, по-моему, так.
Перезапусить X.
