Только, в отличие от "нормальных" telnet-клиентов, клиент из Windows 2000
поддерживает NTLM authentication. Естественно, его должен поддерживать и
telnet-сервер (и тот, к-рый входит в W2k, конечно, поддерживает).
А пользоваться обычным telnet для администрирования (т. е. передавать пароль
админа по сети в открытом виде) -- это слегка несерьезно.

IMHO, возьмите putty.exe и не мучьтесь.
