К сожалению, здесь есть путаница. gnome-desktop - это просто один из
компонентов GNOME, не более того. И тянет он за собой, соответственно,
не умолчальную установку GNOME, а только собственные зависимости.
Умолчальная установка GNOME - это gnome-default. А gnome-full - это для
тех, кто хочет поставить всё, что имеет отношение к GNOME. В чём сейчас
проблема с gnome-full - не знаю. Ну а то что default полнее desktop,
надеюсь, теперь очевидно :)
