Можно и так. Равно как и установить на свободный раздел на мощной
машине, а потом перенести.

Как обычно создание/восстановление backup'а делается. Например, cpio.

Об чем и речь. Не говоря уже о том, что для того только чтобы терминал
соорудить - это явный overkill. Еще раз повторю: используйте
инструменты, адекватные задаче - LTSP в данном случае.
