Насколько здоровый? Поиграйтесь с опциями mkisofs.

Получится, насколько я помню, не с любым ядром. И в этом случае
на болванку файл зальётся не как файл, а как образ. Читать его
придётся соответственно.

RTFM. Эти болванки не требуется чистить.

Вы не сказали, какой у Вас дистрибутив. Насколько я помню, все они, до Compact 2.3
включительно, имеют cdrecord, не поддерживающий запись dvd. Мастера пока
в руках не держал.
