Господа , еще один вопрос
периодически на всех разделах (даже примонтированых /mnt/win)
появляются файлы core довольно внушительного размера 8-9 Мб
что это такое и что сними делать
(я их пока складирую в отдельную папку)

Это дамп памяти от рухнувшей прграммы, какой - можно узнать при помощи
команды file core

Можно просмотреть, можно багрепорт послать... А можно и просто стереть
