domain admin group - в терминологии WIN - это глобальная группа.
и она не обязательно имее административные права - входит в локальную
группу Administrators
и похоже в Самбе это так.
Для изменения /etc/samba/smbpasswd нужны рутовские права
(добление машины в домен есть изменение пароля машины)
Попробуй создать группу (или используй wheel). включи туда этих гавриков
и дай этой группе права на запись /etc/samba/smbpasswd
PS. Сам добавляю машины только из под рута. :)
PSS. В окрестностях уже нет ни одной WXP, так что проверить не могу.
