Хочу Вас искренне поблагодарить за то, что сподвигли меня на обновление

Что касается настройки TV-out, то после долгих поисков по сети,
ковыряния в XF86Config, смирился, что ничего не выдет.
1) atitvout физически не включает выход на телевизор. Тем не менее, с
достоинством заявляет, что включен DVI и TV-out.
2) Option "CloneDisplay" и иже с ней включает CloneMode только на
VGA-головку (монитор у иеня подключен по DVI)
3) Попытка создание второго экрана также ни к чему не привела, т.к.
Section "Device"

Считается второй головкой (VGA), Screen 0 - первой (DVI). Удалось
расширить экран только на два монитора. Телевизор черен, как стадо
бизонов.
Опция Screen 2 вовсе игнорируется сервером и работат только один,
первый, экран.
Вот такие пироги. Если есть у кого0нибудь еще идеи, поделитесь,
пожалуйста.
PS Даже на сайте ATi написано, что их драйвера предназначены _ТОЛЬКО_
для карточек выше R8500.
