Если 1.5.х, то, если память не изменяет -- правой кнопкой
мыши открывается диалог и в нем нужные параметры как-то
ставились (точно помню, надо было только выбрать нужную
вкладку -- сейчас на винде, посмотреть не могу). Но в
документации прямо сказано, что там можно писать все, что
душа пожелает -- ни на что это не влияет, если будите
вводить в ячейку текст, то он будет ее расширять:( В 1.6.х
ситуация изменилась: там элементы таблицы задаются как
TeX-environment'ы и, соответственно, если их размеры
правильно задать, то они соблюдаются и можно вводить текст,
который будет переноситься внутри ячейки. Но только
Latin-1:( Если пытаться ввести кириллицу -- она оказывается
"в стороне" от таблицы. Но ее можно потом выделить мышкой и
вставить в ячейку -- о, чудо! -- и все правильно
сформатируется:) Это результаты моих опытов с семеркой, под
"Истоком" lyx пока не собирал:(
