Действительно по умолчанию DMA=1.
Большое спасибо за совет, я сам примерно к этому вчера и пришел методом
тыка. Только команду попроще давал:
hdparm -d0 /dev/hdd
После этого стабильность работы заметно возросла, но все-таки иногда
еще ошибки бывают.
Сегодня дома попробую ваш вариант команды...

Буду читать. Тем более, что результаты экспериментов с hdparm
