Спасибо! Но мне хватило установки пакетов kaffe и kaffe-devel.

Да, но я тогда этого не знал. Нужен был компилятор Java, естественно, что
пакет gcc-java бросается в глаза в первую очередь :-)

kaffe честно говоря, редкая дрянь.
Когда надумаете переходить на настоящую Java - не забудьте
предварительно снести kaffe.
