Доброго дня!
Как рассчитывается требуемая ширина канала для организации веб-сервера?
Теоретически нагрузка может быть до 20000 посещений в день, с пиком в
100 пользователей в минуту (практически будет много меньше наверное).
Вопрос стоит в том, оставлять ли эту машину внутри конторы или выносить
к провайдеру? Сейчас офис подключен по DSL 2 Мбит оттуда, 256 Кбит туда.

Зависит также от статики/динамики. Можно еще попросить
провайдера сделать proxy вашего сервера, если статика или
динамика, но с _абсолютно_ корректно выставляемыми хедерами
Last-Modified и/или Expires и/или Cache-Control.
