Это песнь долгая и грустная...
Введение:
Устройства идентифицируются, как ATAPI-floppy, причём Iomega начихала на
стандарт ATAPI-floppy, и сделала всё по-своему.
Флоппи не должен содержать разделов, ZIP-содержит. Остюда - куча проблем
во всех ОС.
Partition Table может выглядеть так:
Disk /dev/hdd: 64 heads, 96 sectors, 32 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 6144 * 512 bytes
Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hdd4 * 1 32 98288 6 FAT16
Partition 4 has different physical/logical beginnings (non-Linux?):
phys=(0, 1, 1) logical=(0, 0, 33)
Partition 4 has different physical/logical endings:
phys=(95, 63, 32) logical=(31, 63, 96)
Partition 4 does not end on cylinder boundary:
phys=(95, 63, 32) should be (95, 63, 96)
Если это IDE ZIP - то есть перемычка сзади, диски начинают читаться с
0-го трека 0-го раздела.
Если же это ATAPI-ZIP - облом. В Linux он будет как hd<N>4

Факты:
Многие BIOS (на вершине глюкодрома как всегда ASUS) не учитывают таких
"особенностей", посему - дискетка, отформатированная в DOS может не
читаться в других местах и "пухнуть" в случае 100%-ного заполнения.
Какую-то гарантию даёт Iomeg-овская "родная" утилита форматирования.
Есс-но не под DOS, а под Win 9x/NT/2K, ну или fdisk /dev/hd<n> + mkdosfs
под Linux.
А форматирование под ДОС могло просто-напросто запороть P/T.
