А зачем её вообще в Linux'е задавать? (и как?) Linux (как и любой другой
unix) работает с диском без помощи биоса. Биос нужен только для начальной
загрузки. В похожей ситуации (правда не с linux'ом, с freebsd) я просто
описывал устройство как диск меньшего объёма, лишь бы загрузочный раздел
попадал - и всё работало.
