Провел такую операцию. Не помогло. Потом посмотрел где-то в /proc'e, что
модем сидит на... com5! Такого выбора в kppp даже не предоставляется. После
изменения символиеской ссылки /dev/modem->ttyS4 вроде все заработало... Вот
так вот, блин.
