У меня Линуксовый клиент PPTP с ходу не заработал, но за не сильно большой
надобностью даже разбираться не стал.

А вот насчёт сервера скажу следующее. Если настраивать параметры VPN на
Win98 по умолчанию то всё работает просто замечательно. А вот если в
настройках
сети в "IP->Контролер удалённого доступа" указать IP адрес из той сетки
которую
предлагает сервер PPTPD то часть трафика пойдет именно через этот адрес. Так
что появляется возможность попользоваться Инетом за счёт соседа даже не зная
при
этом его логина.
Может конечно это у меня руки кривые, но когда я спрашивал как быть мне не
помогли ни чем.

К стати в клиенте W2k такое не проходит.
